INTRODACQUA
The village as it reveals
its name was always linked to the presence of the water
that here abundantly gushed out in the mountain sources and
in the streams that slide on the hills placed between the
S.Antonio's valley and Contra. Interaquas,
that means within waters, as it called the monks of the Saint
Clemente Abbey who sent some tenant farmers in IX century
to take advantage of sources of the place for the cultivation
of lands, property of the abbey.
Introdacqua declares its vocation also through some architectonic
elements in the city like Fontanavecchia
(1706).
Worthy of visiting the rests of the medieval village with
the impressive defensive tower (XII cent.),
main symbol of the village and Palazzo Trasmondi (XV cent.),
seat in the past of feudal power.
Between the religious buildings the Church of the
SS. Annunziata (XII cent.) with Romanesque bell tower,
the Church of the SS. Trinità (XI cent. restored in
the XVII cent.) and the church of Addolorata that keeps the
statues of Dead Christ and the Addolorata, brought in procession
the Saint Friday of Easter.
